Kelly Chen Wai-lam wants to help build schools for mainland children and name them after her nickname for her newborn son.

Chen officiated at the book launch of Tod's Italian Touch, a photo book by Italian journalist Donata Sartorio, at the Landmark on Wednesday. The singer autographed 15 of the books, which sold for HK$2,888 each at the event with proceeds plus part of the sales of Tod's brand products going to the Kelly Chen Children Education Fund, which helps children in need receive an education.

The singer said her fund has helped build 40 schools on the mainland since it was founded in 2002, including 10 after the Sichuan earthquake. But Chen said wants to build more.

The schools have so far been named after Chen. But when asked if she would name the new ones after her two-month-old son Chace, Chen seemed excited by the idea. 'I love looking at Chace's cute little chin. It looks like a little shrimp dumpling. It would be fun to have a 'Little Shrimp Dumpling School'. But hopefully people won't mistake it for a dim sum training school,' Chen said, laughing.

Chen returned to work recently after giving birth to Chace in July. The new mother admitted she was not used to being separated from her son for even a few hours. She broke down in tears last week at a promotional event because she missed her new son.

Her new hobby is unlikely to ease her anxiety.
