Name: Tse Ying-suet Sport: Badminton

Achievements: Tse, 17, turned professional after finishing Form Three. Over the past two years, she has represented Hong Kong at many international competitions. Last year, she paired up with Chan Tsz-ka to win a bronze medal in girls' doubles at the Asia Youth Under-19 Badminton Championships in Malaysia.

She also won bronze in mixed doubles (group) at the same event.

This year, Tse followed up with another bronze in women's singles at the Yonex German Junior and received the Outstanding Junior Athlete Award presented by the Hong Kong Sports Institute.

Soundbite 'I started playing badminton with my mother when I was seven years old,' Tse said. 'I am happy my family supported my decision to become a full-time athlete. It was hard to adjust at the beginning because of the intensive training. Coaches had higher expectations of me and I was under a lot of pressure.

'Although I did not win any medals in 2006, I gained valuable experience. My hard work paid off in July last year when I clinched two bronze medals at the Asia Youth Under-19 Badminton Championships.
