JUNIOR squash sensation Wong Wai-chung kept Hong Kong's colours flying in Australia by winning the under-19 title at the Gladstone Park tournament yesterday.
The 15-year-old is on a two-week training stint at the Victoria Institute of Sports in Australia - his prize for winning the Philip Lee memorial award which honours the territory's most promising junior player.
Wong overcame a mid-match lapse of concentration to outlast David Talazolo 9-2, 1-9, 5-9, 9-6, 9-6 in the title match.
He also reached the final in the under-17 competition but was beaten in four games by Cameron Perry.
Wong is due to fly home on Thursday but coach Allen Ngan Wai-ming is hoping to extend their tour for several days so the Hong Kong Sports Institute scholarship athlete can play in a high-profile Canberra event this weekend.
''Most of the leading Australian juniors will be there, so it would be a good chance for Wong to test his mettle,'' said Ngan.
