Hong Kong teenager Steven Lam Tsz-fung suffered a nightmare third round at the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open in Japan yesterday, blowing out to a 15-over-par 86 to fall back into last place. Lam, the 16-year-old amateur playing under a sponsor's invite, exceeded all expectations by making the cut with opening rounds of 71 and 74, but could not sustain the momentum in only his second professional tournament. Japan's Daisuke Maruyama opened up a four-shot lead at Joyo Country Club where his three-day total of 11-under-par 202 is well clear of Korean Kim Kyung-tae. China's Liang Wenchong stayed in the hunt with a battling 69 to lie in third place, five shots back.
