THE Cantonese film industry once again showed its regional power last week by breaking a simple, Hong-Kong produced, tea beverage into the cut-throat Japanese market.
Kung fu star Jackie Chan introduced his Bo Bo Tea to eager locals last summer only to find the stuff even more popular everywhere else in Asia.
The drink has been selling so well in countries like Singapore and Malaysia, Chan has decided to go out and crack the toughest nut, Japan.
Chan was there on Friday to promote his baby just in time for summer - when the thirsty hordes take to the vending machines for refreshment.
After 15 years of breaking Hong Kong's box office takings, by breaking baddies' heads on the big screen, Chan has gone for breaking the bank by signing a deal with beverage giant Pokka who will import the tea.
He has followed the same business investment principles as other local pop and movie stars have in the past - usually in the forms of restaurant chains or Vancouver apartment blocks.
