Lucky Red has built up an impressive record down the 1,000m straight course and he looks to have found the ideal race to continue on his winning way in the final leg of Thursday afternoon's Triple Trio at Sha Tin.
With the TT only being partially won on Saturday, the main prize is expected to reach HK$4 million, and Lucky Red looks a standout.
The six-year-old was dominant in winning over the same course and distance on September 20, and with a five-pound drop in weight, he should have little trouble in repeating the dose. His toughest opposition will come from Diamond Knight, Top News and Ever Beauty, with New Glory attracting some attention at his Hong Kong debut.
In the opening leg, Energetic Boy fits the banker bill, given he will be all the better for one run from a break.
The five-year-old was solid towards the end of last season, winning back-to-back races in June, and unlucky not to finish closer in behind Victory Mascot two runs back. He looked in need of the outing when resuming, but closed off well in the final stages to finish a two-length fourth to Liverbird.
With the benefit of that outing, and stepping to his preferred distance, he should be able to get home over the top of his opposition.
His main dangers are Fujian Prince, Little Big Boy, Spring Smiles, Sammy's Fortune and the likely leader Bravo Horse.
