A farewell to Gigs
This will be the final instalment of Outtakes, and I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the concert organisers, event promoters, venue owners, bands, DJs and others in the Hong Kong music scene who have made this a truly enjoyable five years. And, of course, the editors who have had to put up with my often rambling and overdue articles. As the saying goes, see you all down the front.
Brit wit comes to town
The name Bob Mills will be familiar to many fans of British comedy, with the funnyman having hosted cult television programmes such as In Bed With Medinner and, of course, the Bob Mills Show. After arriving on the London comedy scene in 1985, Mills earned a reputation for delivering a challenging form of laddish stand-up, and was selected to host the daytime game show, Win Lose Or Draw, where - as his bio puts it - he walked 'the fine line between pensioners' favourite and students' cult hero'. Described as 'one of the country's leading comedy lights' by The Telegraph, Mills (below) will appear at the Punchline Comedy Club at Duetto (formerly the Viceroy) from October 8 to 10, alongside fellow British comedians Barry Castagnola and Andrew Vincent. The shows start at 9pm and tickets cost HK$320.
