A nephew of movie mogul Charles Heung Wah-keung was jailed for 18 months and fined HK$2,000 yesterday for possessing and trafficking dangerous drugs.

Benson Heung Chin-wan had six previous convictions, five related to drug offences. But it was the first time he had been convicted of trafficking.

Heung, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing 7.39 grams of ketamine and one count of trafficking 275 tablets containing 2.34 grams of nimetazepam.

The District Court heard that police who searched Heung's home in City One, Sha Tin, on April 23 found five transparent plastic bags containing ketamine in his underpants and 275 nimetazepam tablets in the bedroom.

Prosecutor Poon Chin-chiu said that in a police video-interview, Heung had admitted the drugs were for his own consumption, and that he had bought the ketamine and the 275 tablets for HK$6,000 at a club in Tsim Sha Tsui.

In mitigation, barrister Nelson Lam said his client had not made money out of trafficking drugs and handed the tablets out for free in discos for 'socialising'.
