I love my winter coats but would love them more if they had fur around the wrists. Where can I get one like that?

Hairy Situation, Tsim Sha Tsui

The Dictator rules: Good idea. Hong Kong weather really demands fur. Not. We'll just pretend you're going to a cold climate soon. You could, of course, modify your beloved coats by having fur added to the cuffs. Specialists such as Siberian Fur (29 Des Voeux Road, Central, tel: 2522 1380) are happy to handle such requests. For a quick fur fix, they carry fox-trimmed cashmere capelets (HK$9,500), fox collars (HK$3,500) and more. Max Mara has classic camel coats with fur cuffs, some with fur collars too (about HK$15,080 to HK$21,680; Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2735 5329). Celine has them in a slightly more sporty parka form (about HK$24,600 to HK$60,000; Harbour City, tel: 3417 3038). If money is no object, slip on a little luxury by Loro Piana, including cashmere coats with removable chinchilla trims, etc (HK$89,000 to HK$241,500; Harbour City, tel: 2175 3368). We're in awe of the beauty of Lanvin's new black coat in kid with fox trim (HK$155,200; Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, tel: 2196 8052). Even Peta members and less extravagant shoppers can get the look with Diane von Furstenberg's multicoloured boucle coat with fur-like knitted cuffs (HK$7,700; Elements, tel: 2196 8477).

I like the idea of those sleeve things that go up the arm but don't have fingers like long gloves. Where do they sell them so I can keep wearing T-shirts when the weather gets a bit colder? Like leg warmers for arms!

The Dictator: Hmm. Great idea. Almost as ingenious as the Snuggie (www.getsnuggie.co) and only a tad less ridiculous. Some resemble cut-off mittens, while others are more like fingerless gloves. The most amusing might be the UV Protectors in City'super's Life Division (HK$99 to HK$230; Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 2888), which reach from the hand to the upper arm, come in various colours and patterns, and supposedly block out harmful ultraviolet rays. Chanel's sheer fingerless gloves with zipper embellishments (HK$3,800; Prince's Building, Central, tel: 2810 0978) take you into the high-fashion realm; think more Karl than Coco. Sadly, you cannot impersonate a bear with Donna Karan's fur gauntlets for autumn because they aren't sold in Hong Kong, but you can get the DKNY Jeans knit arm warmers (HK$390; Fashion Walk, Causeway Bay, tel: 2890 2799) and, yes, you could even buy matching leg warmers (HK$390). If the knit look appeals, try the black or grey cable knit versions by Coming Soon at I.T (HK$999; Times Square, tel: 2506 0569). Agnes b's are super soft, made from silk with wool and a smidge of cashmere, but are only available in black (HK$690; IFC Mall, Central, tel: 2805 0678). Slip on a pair in white or black sequins and leather by Mary Beyer (HK$3,990; On Pedder in new location at Joyce, 16 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2522 7402).
