Dozens of exiled Tibetans were arrested in Kathmandu, Nepal. They had been protesting in front of the Chinese embassy. Nepalese riot police held 40 protesters who were angry at China's Communist Party's 60th birthday. Background Nepalese leaders are under pressure from China to suppress anti-China activity. Tibetan exiles say police have responded by being harder on exiles. Around 20,000 exiled Tibetans live in Nepal. They left Tibet with the Dalai Lama after a failed rebellion. Nepal is between India and China and supports Beijing's policy which sees Tibet as a part of China. Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is a criminal in the eyes of Beijing.
