Fresh from a double yesterday, trainer John Size swears his first season in Hong Kong started more slowly than this one, but it's a matter of perception.
'My first season was slower - I hardly had any horses, hardly had any runners and you can't get slower than that,' he laughed after Douglas Whyte steered home Endless Luck and Fly Me To The Moon to announce the five-time champion handler is back on song after Glory Of India got him off the mark last week.
'This season I've had quite a few runners, things haven't always gone their way and I hadn't had a winner until last week, but that is horse racing. At times it's like that - you have your run of outs and you just have to wait until the cycle completes.'
Size said he may throw yesterday's impressive Class Three 1,800m winner, Endless Luck, into the Sa Sa Ladies' Purse over the same trip at Sha Tin next Sunday to keep him active while he's in good form.
'He's going well and there isn't a lot for him until a race at the end of the month,' Size said. 'The Ladies Purse is probably too hard for him, but if he's handicapped to be in it, then I'll consider that. He's won with a lot of authority today in the lower grade.'
The son of Giant's Causeway was scoring his first win here after five starts, but Size pointed out the gelding had never run badly and the writing was on the wall before his romp yesterday.
