Fare Italian.

Ambience A second branch of the popular Wan Chai restaurant, this cosy venue has a live band in the evening playing requests and classics. Typical Italian decor, with chequered table clothes. This part of town has been ridiculously rebranded as 'SoHo East', but don't be fooled - it is in Sai Wan Ho - a brisk day's walk from the real Soho of Central. 'SoHo East' consists of a long street of restaurants along the harbourfront, offering alfresco dining overlooking the less interesting part of Kowloon. One of the few restaurants not benefitting from the view is Jack's Terrazza, located just off the main street.

Cost The set meal for two (which will leave you stuffed) was HK$888, not including wine and beer.

Turn-ons The restaurant goes big on surf 'n' turf, and has loads of options for mixing up great meat dishes with tiger prawns, lobster, salmon, oysters, mussels and other seafood dishes (pictured). And the meat is good: the set meal for two includes a generous steak and two lamb chops, both of which were perfectly cooked and deliciously tender. The dessert of Italian ice cream was excellent.

Turn-offs The menu for the set meal promised a starter platter including four oysters, mussels and Canadian whelks. We were served only two oysters and no whelks; either this was a genuine error or a cheeky way of cutting back on oysters. The oysters weren't great and lacked any salty flavours of the sea, as did the mussels. The menu also promised lobster tails, but they were not available - instead we got tiger prawns, which again were tasteless.

Drinks An extensive wine list, with plenty of options for wine by the glass. A decent Pinot Grigio costs HK$55 a glass.
