THE executive committee of Hong Kong Polytechnic's council will look into lecturers' allegations of academic misconduct and corruption.
The deputy chairman of the committee, Joseph Chow Ming-kuen, said the allegations would be discussed on April 25.
''It's our job to see fairness is done,'' he said.
The allegations, revealed in the South China Morning Post yesterday, surfaced in an anonymous letter circulated last week among polytechnic staff. Council chairman Peter Woo Kwong-ching, also received a copy of the letter, which called for a change of leadership.
Further details of alleged academic misconduct involving senior staff were heard yesterday.
One alleged practice, that of senior staff unreasonably claiming credits for work done by local and mainland juniors and students, was regarded as ''nothing unusual'' by many mainlanders. They said this was common in China also.
And mainland scholars often ''sold'' their papers to local academics, one student said yesterday.
