It's time to do battle with hordes of evil Akatsuki ninjas in Sony PlayStation Portable's 3D action adventure, Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising.
The game is based on the extremely popular Naruto Shippuden Japanese manga and anime series, in which - among other adventures - Naruto and his friends have to search for Naruto's former enemy and now friend, Gaara, who has been defeated by the powerful Akatsuki and is now being held hostage.
They have to move fast because Gaara is possessed by a demon, and Akatsuki is planning to release it and unleash it on the world.
In story mode - known as scenario mode - players start out as Naruto, but as they progress through the game more characters are unlocked, providing a total of 10, including even the dreaded Akatsuki himself.
Game play is not challenging - using the character of your choice you have to battle your way through 3D areas that include the streets of Konoha, forests and deserts. The controls are easy to pick up, and gamers can string together attacks and Jutsu moves to make for some incredible combos. The game also has RPG elements, allowing characters to level up through earning experience points. It is also possible to pick up ninja scrolls that increase character stats and Jutsu.
In the mission mode, players can take on assignments that win experience points, skills scrolls and other useful items. Missions range from seeking out Naruto's favourite noodle shop to shaking down a mysterious flock of birds that are making off with Lady Tsunade's herbs.
