What is it?
Elegance personified, Park Hyatt Saigon is a modern hotel that looks classically regal - it became an instant landmark when it opened in 2005. Located beside Ho Chi Minh City's Opera House, it makes for a convenient base from which to explore the nearby Reunification Palace, Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral and the new luxury shopping district of Le Loi Boulevard.
So it's colonial style?
Designed by Damansara Architects and EDC Design from Malaysia, the hotel takes the best of French colonial design, including a stylish cream facade, French windows, terrace dining, vaulted ceilings and a mezzanine-level restaurant, and combines it with Indo-Chinese charm, such as vibrant local art, oriental rugs, gleaming hard wood and faultless service.
Rooms are spacious with high ceilings and plenty of natural light - you can't escape the feeling you have just stepped out of Graham Greene's The Quiet American.
What about the rooms?
Of the 252 guestrooms, nine deluxe rooms and one suite have direct pool access and private terraces. Rooms feature four-poster beds, spacious work desks and locally sourced furniture. Modern touches include LCD televisions and high-speed internet access.
