The Dsquared2 designer twin brothers, Dean and Dan Caten, were back in town on Friday. They were last here a year ago for a mega bash at the Shaw Studios. This time, for another boutique opening at Harbour City, the Canadian-born, Milan-based duo decided to scale back for an in-store cocktail reception - more in keeping with the times. 'Last year was fun, but it's recession time; it would be rude if we spent too much money,' Dan rationalised. 'But I think if we balance it out, it will be fine.' This time it was more subdued. Well, guests had to cross the harbour to the store in Tsim Sha Tsui, and you know how some folks loathe doing that. On the plus side, this time it was easier to get up close and chat with the Dsquared2 twins, who said they developed an interest in fashion as a result of 'a hot older brother' from their brood of 10 siblings. 'He was cute, so he had cool girlfriends. One of his girlfriends took her shoes off ... she had this pair of beautiful grey suede wedges, glittered with moons and stars. We were like, 'We should put more stars here and there'. We were only seven and already analysing how to make the shoes look better.'
