A classic selection of carpets is being offered thanks to a collaboration formed by a leading Hong Kong purveyor of antiques, furniture and arts pieces. Altfield Gallery, which recently opened an extended showroom in Aberdeen as an annex to its shop in Central, has teamed up with Caravan Classics to market a range of hand-woven carpets based on traditional Chinese designs. The carpets are made of the finest handspun wools, using natural dyes and are made on traditionally constructed wooden looms. Altfield's new annex has come as a result of demand by design clients to view more product ranges and collections. The new space allows upholstered furniture, coffee tables and consoles, lighting and wall art, dining sets and sideboards to be viewed together in room sets. 'The high ceilings and large open spaces allow the display of much larger and more dramatic pieces than their Prince's Building showrooms are able to contain,' a spokesman for the gallery says. 'The space also allows the integration of some of the fine antique furniture, sculpture and works of art that Altfield Gallery is well known for, mixed in with contemporary displays of very modern upholstery and occasional furniture. The displays will constantly be changed.'
