After six years in the making, fans of Japanese rock band Sid will be happy to know the quartet has finally released their long-anticipated debut, Hikari.

The album is a CD/DVD release containing 11 songs and videos from their tour this year. The CD features upbeat rock songs, with catchy melodies and some nice piano and violin riffs, making them a little more pop. The third track, Uso, attained particular fame in Japan and was chosen as the first ending song to popular anime series Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Darker tracks such as Mousou Nikki 2 and Capsule are good places to get a taste of the boys' raw voices and angry guitar riffs. For something softer, the first and last tracks, Rakuen Heaven and Hikari have soothing piano melodies that will unwind you after a stressful day.

There are two versions of the album, featuring different cover art and containing different DVD content, so hardcore fans may want to invest in both to see all the video footage. Despite the youth of its members, Sid is quickly growing in popularity. Even if you don't speak Japanese, you'll appreciate the rocking melodies these four boys have produced.
