With so many performances and entertainers at the Lan Kwai Fong Carnival 2009, Alan James Jewell, executive producer at Big Events, the entertainment and production agency behind the carnival, gives a round-up of next weekend's highlights.
The biggest highlight of the weekend carnival is the performance by six Brazilian samba dancers at the 4pm and 8pm parade. 'They wear these very colourful, fantastic costumes. And it's such a big spectacle, it's electrifying,' says Jewell.
The dancers will also appear at other times with the samba band, but Jewell wants to keep the times unannounced so that there's more excitement and surprise at the festive event.
A new element this year is fairground-style games, with favourites including a hula-hoop game, hook a duck, lucky wheel and knocking over tin cans with bean bags.
A surprisingly funny act will be two Russian musicians performing Russian folk songs.
'They are just so different from what you imagine and what they actually do. I find them very funny on stage,' Jewell says.
