This video game is based on an upcoming 3D animated movie of the same name - due out in cinemas before the end of the year. 
Gamers take on the role of Flint Lockwood, a wacky inventor who has created a satellite that causes food to rain from the sky.
The movie is based on a 1978 children's book by Judi and Ron Barrett and has been adapted for the big screen by Pixar and writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The game is a 3D action platformer aimed at very young gamers. It involves  simple problem-solving that requires you to move things around, but nothing too challenging in terms of either intellect or gaming skills. 
The candy land and other food landscapes are visually appealing and  make the game more fun - especially for young players. 
To  navigate these candy and junk-food filled wonderlands, you will need to arm yourself with some of Flint Lockwood's bizarre gadgets.  These include the 'Chopper-er', for slicing and dicing action, the 'Forkmajigger', a lifting and moving tool, and the 'Hot Enougher', a heat-wave gun that helps you melt obstacles and enemies.
 There are also the 'Bigacious Pow', a pneumatic boxing glove gun that breaks things, and  the 'Upsucker', a super-soaker device that sucks up hot sauce and water to dissolve and attack things that get in your way.
The graphics and sound are standard for a movie tie-in game designed simply to cash in on the  film's potential success. The game's shallow content  comes as no big surprise.  
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, from Ubisoft, will appeal to  young gamers who are likely to be entertained by  the simple game play and colourful, fantasy candy-landscape palette. 
Older gamers will only  find this a light distraction - possibly of use in easing the boredom of commuting to and from school.  
Some reviews are predicting  this game will be another 'bargain bin' filler, meaning  it will be cheaper several months after its official  release date - still to be announced.
