Not that money is likely to be a concern for the groom, Adrian Cheng Chi-kong, the 30-year-old son of New World Development managing director Henry Cheng Kar-shun. Adrian last night tied the knot with his banker girlfriend, Jennifer Yu Ngar-wing.
Adrian is an executive director of New World and a director of top jewellery maker Chow Tai Fook.
The wedding saw a veritable who's who of the city cram the banquet hall at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
'I've already given her my grandson!' said Adrian's grandfather, New World Development chairman Cheng Yu-tung, when asked what gifts he would provide for the newlyweds.
Marriage was a life-long commitment and the two should respect each other, he said. When asked how much the gala event cost, Cheng Yu-tung said his son Henry would take care of the bill.
Other high-profile guests included Bank of East Asia chairman David Li Kwok-po and HSBC Asia-Pacific chairman Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen.
