What to know when ordering custom-made jewellery

Do: Have ideas about what to look for. Start with a special stone and build from there. Know what kind of stone suits you best.

Be familiar with the 'four Cs' - cut, colour, clarity and carat. The higher the readings, the rarer a stone will be.

Choose stones with certificates issued by the Gemological Institute of America or relevant authorities from Europe and America.

Go to a jeweller you know and trust and have confidence in the skills of the people who are working on your piece.
