Selected watches, jewellery and ceramics in a class of their own
Bonhams' Hong Kong Fine Jewellery and Jadeite auction will offer 200 lots of carefully selected pieces, while its Fine Watches and Clocks auction will offer more than 140 lots of highly sought-after contemporary, avant-garde and vintage watches from renowned brands.
Highlights of the auction include a 15.40 carat brilliant-cut diamond ring (D-colour VVS2 clarity), estimated at HK$12 million-HK$16 million; a rare bright emerald green jadeite hoop (HK$1.3 million-HK$2.3 million); an intense emerald green jadeite bangle (HK$1.2 million-HK$1.9 million); and a 5.07 carat Burmese unheated pigeon's blood ruby and diamond ring (HK$1.1 million-HK$2.1 million). The pieces will include a 193.60 carat black diamond rough, black diamond and diamond necklace by Carvin French (HK$660,000-HK$860,000) and a 10.02 carat conch pearl, 2.37 carat Paraiba tourmaline and diamond pendant/necklace (HK$320,000-HK$420,000).
The exquisite timepieces under the hammer will range from chic fashion watches to grand complication ones, and a selection of Patek Philippe vintage pocket watches with minute and quarter repeaters and an exquisite Tiffany 1950s desk clock with an Angelus movement. Another sought-after collector's item is the Patek Philippe platinum automatic annual calendar chronograph wristwatch, featuring the designer's first chronograph movement.
Bonhams will also offer 160 lots at its Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale. 'Many new collectors have emerged in China,' said Julian King, head of Chinese ceramics and works of art. 'Bonhams is pleased to be able to offer them a diverse range of jade carving and scholars items.'
Highlights among the porcelain are a magnificent Yongle (1403-24) blue-and-white barbed dish painted with peony flowers (HK$2 million-HK$3 million) and a celadon-glazed 'chrysanthemum' vase with Qianlong seal mark (HK$1 million-HK$1.5 million).
A 15.40-carat brilliant-cut diamond ring (D-colour, VVS2 clarity, Ex Ex Ex), which is expected to fetch up to HK$16 million at the auction.
