'Like a star rushing from one show to another, Obama has come and gone, without stirring the slightest ripples'
Popular mainland blogger Zhao Dezhu on US President Barack Obama's visit
Background
Zhao, who blogs and tweets under the name Hecaitou, said he missed former US president George W. Bush who 'couldn't speak with flowery language and even made grammatical mistakes but spoke as plainly as an American farmer'.
He said Obama, by contrast, speaks 'with sweet but empty words' - he can speak well but does not back up his words with action. 'Flowery language' means the use of colourful words.
Zhao compares Obama's Asian tour to a celebrity's hectic schedule. When Zhao says Obama 'has come and gone, without stirring the slightest ripples', he means the visit was too short and it did not result in any important changes.
