The Racing Club has had to wait for Young Label's second victory, but the fragile sprinter has the luxury of a low draw tonight that gives him every chance to add to his record in the St Andrew's Challenge Quaich (1,000m) at Happy Valley.
The Almond Lee Yee-tat-trained Young Label (Zac Purton) gave the Jockey Club's young ownership club a big boost on debut when he scored up the Sha Tin straight in June last year and looked a horse of some promise.
Injury and ill-luck have contrived to see him out of the winner's stall in his four starts since, but the brittle five-year-old has the draw and the right race this time.
He hasn't raced since June when, resuming off an eight-month break, Young Label had a race over this course shot to pieces, only to run into the smart Always Something.
Although he hasn't barrier trialled Young Label, Lee has had plenty of practice with Young Label first-up and the horse has won and finished second twice in three attempts under those circumstances.
Notably, Young Label did not trial before his run in June either, and he might have got away with that race but for being gassed in the run to the home turn on a competitive lead pace.
