An undercover policewoman in her 20s impersonated a Form Three pupil, leading to the arrest of a teenage drug dealer at a Fan Ling secondary school.

Wong Chun-kit, 17, twice sold ketamine tablets to the constable, believing her to be a schoolmate. Yesterday Wong was sentenced to 32 months in jail after pleading guilty to three counts of trafficking in the drug.

Prosecutor Sezen Chong told the District Court that Wong sold tablets containing ketamine to four 'students', including the undercover officer, on two occasions in July. When police arrested him in August they found 67 tablets containing 9.37 grams of ketamine at his home. Wong made a profit of HK$15 on each tablet sold, Chong said.

Wong was one of 36 people arrested in an undercover operation, called Iron Racer, which was carried out from April to August, said Yan Fong-wai, the officer in charge.

Its goal was to combat the school drugs problem before a voluntary drug-testing scheme is launched in schools next month.

Outside court Yan said the undercover constable, a new graduate from police school, had grown her hair and dressed like a teenager for the operation. Police had asked some other schools to join the operation but had been rejected, he said.
