A Chongqing triad boss was executed yesterday after the Supreme People's Court examined his case and approved the verdict.

Chen Ming, a triad boss in Rongchang county, was sentenced to death last year for organised crimes such as assault, drug trafficking and fraud.

Chen's case was a prelude to the massive crackdown on organised crime that began in June and swept up about 3,000 people including justice and police officials.

Judicial authorities yesterday announced that another four trials would begin soon, involving 105 people. The first case, involving gang bosses Chen Zhiyi and Deng Yuping, will allege that their gang killed three people and injured another four, the China News Service reported.

It said that 26 people, including Chen and Deng, also ran illegal casinos in top-end hotels.
