Irony in one advert and just plain naughty in another

Our hearts go out to the 41 people injured when two trams collided head-on at a busy junction in Causeway Bay on Thursday. The trams crashed when one took a turn and crashed into the other near the corner of Percival Street and Hennessy Road. It's not clear whether it was caused by human error or a faulty signal.

Fortunately, the majority suffered only minor bruises. It is, however, ironic that one of the trams involved in the rare collision had Hong Kong Tramways' 'Safety First' campaign painted all over it (pictured, bottom). Perhaps the operators need to pay more attention to their own ads. This was spotted by an alert reader, who also noticed this rather naughty ad that somehow made it into the watch and jewellery supplement produced by one of the city's leading Chinese-language papers. Wow! How did that get past the censors?

Sure, 'it's so big ... it's huge'. Presumably, the ad meant the watches sold by U-Boat, which has shops in Central, Causeway Bay and Macau - rather than what the pretty model appeared to be getting hold of in the picture. Well, I guess imagination is out the window with the advertising industry in this town.
