Leica is best known for cameras that photographers with average budgets can only dream about. Now the German company is turning its optical prowess to its Pradovit D-1200 projector.
The smallest and lightest model in its class, the D-1200 is a Texas Instruments DLP (digital light processing) projector that delivers a 1,920 x 1,200 pixel image.
It sports a Leica Vario-Elmarit-P lens that throws out a projection range of one to 15 metres. Its contrast range is more than 2,500:1 and brightness is rated at 1,400 lumens.
The elegantly designed projector is wrapped in a magnesium body and weighs just 3.5kg.
Watching Celine Dion's Blu-ray disc of her Las Vegas concert, I was pleased by the picture's rich detail.
Blacks were deep, the contrast was good and colours were radiant, making viewing the show that much more enjoyable.
