South Korea's Kim Kwang-hoon upset the form books by taking gold in the men's 77kg gold ahead of Beijing Olympic champion Liao Hui of China at Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre last night. Kim, who finished fourth behind Liao at the Beijing Games in the same category last year, was trailing the star lifter after the snatch with a 153kg lift but came good in the clean and jerk with a 199kg lift for a combined 352kg total, pipping Liao for gold by just 1kg. Bronze went to North Korea's Pang Kum-chol, who finished with a combined total of 331kg. In the women's 63kg category, China's Guo Xijan had to settle for bronze, finishing 27kg behind gold-medallist Pak Hyon-suk of North Korea.
