We have good news and bad news. The bad news is you're not going to be able to find anymore Calamansi Bijoux jewellery, the Hong Kong line created by French sisters Caroline Caer (pictured left) and Agnes Caer-Piras. They have decided to call it quits. The good news is, you can now hire them to design everything else, as they have switched to graphic design. The two held a combination going-out-of-business jewellery sale and cocktail party to launch Calamansi Designs last week. 'With the crisis last year, it was a bit worrying, so we thought what else can we do?' Agnes said. 'Caroline is a graphic designer by training so we thought 'why not try this?'. We didn't officially announce the switch but we already have five projects. 'People thought, 'I know your work, I know what you've done with jewellery'. So we've been doing logos, brochures and other things. It literally snowballed as one client brought over another.' That doesn't mean it was an easy decision for the Caer sisters to stop making dazzling accessories. 'The difficult part was just deciding to stop the jewellery line. We were just planning a new collection. But it is exciting to work intensely with clients and I like the diversity. 'We did keep a lot of jewellery for ourselves. I have a huge bag. We've also kept some of the best stone, so ...' Yep, maybe the brand will be back some day.
