In Hong Kong, Dell's Vostro series of laptops is targeted at the small- and medium-sized business sector, offering cost-effective, no-nonsense machines that are designed to do work, not show off its looks. But no one looking at the new Vostro V13 would think it is a PC designed for the office. With its ultra-thin, smudge-free, all-aluminium case and some of the sleekest lines found on a laptop today, the product can easily be mistaken for a member of Dell's high-end Adamo series. In fact, it looks remarkably like the Onyx and Pearl Adamo laptops - complete with the distinctive protrusion behind the main screen for ports. Similar to its costlier (as much as three times more) Adamo cousins, the V13 offers a 13.3-inch display, and is only 16.5mm thick. Obviously, the Adamo features some extra details in the design, and the display is hidden behind edge-to-edge glass, and comes with more ports and faster processors, but the V13 will still turn heads at the coffee shop this holiday season. It comes with Intel processors ranging from a Celeron chip running at 1.3GHz to a Core 2 Duo running at 1.3GHz. Hard disk ranges from 250GB to 500GB while RAM is available in 2GB and 4GB options. Graphics is powered by a Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, and communications is supported by 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n wireless LAN. Best of all, the price of the Vostro V13 starts at HK$4,688. Pros: super-thin design, all-aluminium casing Cons: weak graphics support, 30WH battery is non-removable
