Now hear this British firm Tannoy, the venerable maker of loudspeakers and public-address systems since the 1920s, is looking to attract today's demanding audiophiles with Definition, a new series of high-end stereo speakers. The line's largest model, the 34.5kg DC10T floor-standing stereo speaker (right), is available with high-gloss dark walnut, black or cherry plywood veneer and brushed-aluminium trims. The model's 'dual concentric' design, the 'DC' in its name, places the 'tweeter' (the loudspeaker that produces high frequencies) behind the centre of the 10-inch bass/mid driver, for superb audio clarity. A driver of similar size sits immediately below for low-frequency output. The DC10T system sells for HK$24,500 at the DCH AV shop in Megabox, Kowloon Bay.
