We've always thought Grappa's Cellar could be a really cool underground rock club. It has a raised stage, a pseudo balcony, and housed in the basement of Jardine House, is literally underground. Plus, it's away from any residences that might complain about noise yet centrally located so you even walk home after a night of moshing. Now we'll get a chance to see it put to rockin' purposes as California post-punk band Saosin hits its stage on Saturday, January 23, for a one-off gig. The band is being presented by LAMC Productions with local group Hungry Ghosts serving as the opening act. As a five-piece group, Saosin are led by singer Cove Reber (centre). Although the band's second studio recording, In Search Of Solid Ground, was only released last autumn, they have been around since 2004. Incidentally, their name comes from the Chinese phrase for 'be careful'. Advance tickets are HK$300 and HK$350 at the door at Grappa's Cellar, 1 Connaught Place.
