The two jockeys involved in the dramatic fall on the home turn at Happy Valley on Wednesday night have been cleared of any serious injuries, with Marco Chui Kwan-lai discharged from Queen Mary Hospital yesterday. Chui and Weichong Marwing were thrown to the turf as their mounts fell entering the straight in the Sports Road Handicap. Marwing was cleared by the course doctor immediately after the race, but Chui was taken to hospital to have extensive scans and remained overnight for observation. The jockeys can count themselves lucky they walked away from the nasty looking incident, which will be the subject of an adjourned stewards inquiry likely to be re-convened on Monday. Chui's mount, Breaking Point, clipped heels with Something Special (Derek Leung Ka-chun) and fell, causing the pursuing horse, Sure Gain (Marwing) to also come down. Both horses also appear to have escaped with minor injuries. Sure Gain was lame in the left front leg and Breaking Point sustained cuts to all four heels. Chui complained of soreness in his right arm, but he was cleared of any fracture to his collarbone or serious soft tissue damage to his elbow. Chui will be examined by the Jockey Club's doctor this morning to determine whether he will be fit to fulfil his seven rides on Sunday.
