Brett Prebble has the right book to go back-to-back in the Jockey Challenge after being heavily backed as clear winner in the Happy Valley contest on Wednesday night.

Prebble's main danger once again is Douglas Whyte, who like Prebble, also boasts a full book of 10 rides and has some strong chances. At overnight odds of $1.60 for Whyte and $3.10 for Prebble, the Aussie certainly is the better value.

On paper Whyte seems to have a few strong chances in the early races, and patient punters may hold off backing Prebble until after the fourth race when his leading chances really look to kick in.

If Whyte takes an early advantage, Prebble's price will no doubt ease, and anything above $3.50 would be an enticing proposition, given the strength of his final six mounts.

Perfect Gear, who is on the quick back-up after finishing second at Happy Valley can get the momentum going back in Prebble's favour in race five. Great Land's Star is a point-scoring chance in the sixth, and Blaze King will take a power of beating in the seventh.

Prebble has elected to get back on Special K with the blinkers on for the first time in race eight and that should provide some clue as to his chances in what looks a tricky race.
