The increasing demand for baby products drove the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC) to hold the inaugural Hong Kong Baby Products Fair, a spin-off from the well-established HKTDC Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair.

'Over the years, the baby toys and products zone in the toys fair has been well received by buyers and industry players,' a spokesman for the HKTDC says. 'This year, we decided to launch the inaugural Baby Products Fair as a natural spin-off from the toys fair to meet the increasing demand for baby products and to cater to industry needs.'

The fair starts today and runs until Thursday at the Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, featuring more than 300 exhibitors from 16 countries.

The mainland and Taiwan have secured group pavilions showcasing their latest collections. For easier navigation, eight special zones are also highlighted to cater to babies and toddlers up to four years old. They are: babywear and footwear, baby toys and activity, bedding and furniture, feeding and nursery, gifts set, maternity, skin care and bath products, and strollers and gear.

Working with its network of 11 offices on the mainland and about 40 offices around the world to bring quality trade buyers, importers, wholesalers, retailers and distributors to Hong Kong, the HKTDC organised more than 40 buying missions comprising more than 1,300 international buyers to this new fair.

Besides creating a marketplace for sourcing new products and conducting businesses, the fair stages seminars to familiarise traders with the requirements in this market.
