Adrian Yang, director and co-head of Salomon's Hong Kong capital markets division, was appointed head of the new department, the company said yesterday.
Salomon chairman Thomas Jasper said the department was created because clients found it useful to have a syndicate in Asia, particularly for transactions directed at the region.
Last year, Salomon said it lead-managed or co-lead-managed 14 equity-raising transactions in six Asian countries totalling US$2.7 billion, including Telecom Asia.
