The three-year master of nursing course is a full-time, self-financed programme which is open to bachelor's degree holders in any discipline. In addition to learning theoretical concepts, the joint-venture programme enables students to study in virtual reality nursing laboratories. By incorporating simulated clinical experiences into teaching and learning, students will be able to develop skills before they practise in a variety of clinical settings. Credits required for graduation are 96 and students must perform at least 1,400 hours of clinical practice in various disciplines. The programme is accredited by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and graduates are eligible to apply to become registered nurses. Students graduating from the degree programme, with good academic results, can apply for membership of the Sigma Theta Tau International's Pi-lota Chapter. The organisation is the first Honour Society of Nursing in Hong Kong which was established by the school of nursing at Polytechnic University. It provides tremendous opportunities for professional and career development in Hong Kong and overseas. The three-year tuition fee costs about HK$220,000. The Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital has agreed to give scholarships to students enrolled in the programme. Scholarships will be granted to students based on academic results. To become eligible to study, you need to complete a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Fluency in written and spoken English and Cantonese is a must.
