A REAL estate agency proprietor was gunned down in his Tsuen Wan shop after a $250,000 contract was taken out for the killing, the High Court heard yesterday.
The court was told that the contract was offered by a business rival of Chow Kwok-leung, 34, who was shot twice in the head at close range.
The alleged gunman, Chong Wing-chung, 28, the man who allegedly took him to the scene of killing, Leung Lap-sun, 26, and the man who was said to have arranged payment, Lau Kin-chiu, 23, all denied a joint charge of murder.
Opening the Crown's case before a jury and Mr Justice Bewley, prosecutor Tim Casewell said Chow was the owner of a real estate agency, Tin Cheung Property Agency Company, in Riviera Garden, Tsuen Wan.
Mr Casewell said that at about 8.27 pm on March 18, 1992, Chow was working in the shop with his assistant, Li Siu-wan, when Leung and Chong pulled up on a motorcycle outside the agency.
Chong dismounted, walked up to the shop and with a semi-automatic pistol fired two shots at Chow at close range. One bullet entered his lower lip and another the base of his neck, Mr Casewell said.
Chow was taken to hospital but was certified dead shortly after 10 pm.
