Kei$ha Animal (RCA) 'Gonna brush my teeth with Jack,' Kei$ha blurts on the single TiK ToK, which just happens to be the most downloaded digital song on iTunes. If that offends, then it's surely not you that the 22-year-old is talking to on her debut. Instead, it's for the bratty kids, the generation who whines that there 'ain't no seats in the VIP for me' or who fight to go to the 'party at the rich dude's house'. With producers Dr Luke (Avril Lavigne, Katy Perry) and Max Martin (Britney Spears) at the helm, it's hard to tell if the Auto-Tuned vocalist can in fact sing. There's no denying her saucy attitude, which is helped by incessant synth stabs and a drum machine that never quits. At its best, Backstabber is a female anthem made for clubbing. At her worst, Kei$ha sounds shockingly amateur and robs wholesale from Avril Lavigne and Robert Miles. Then again, with lyrics like 'Think you'll be getting this?/ Nah, nah, nah/ not if you keep talking that blah, blah, blah', this isn't an album to think too much about. Just cue it up next to Lady Gaga and get dancing.
