Singer-actor Jordan Chan Siu-chun, 42, is to marry 24-year-old actress Cherrie Ying Choi-yi in the US next month. The couple will tie the knot on Lunar New Year's Day, which this year coincides with Valentine's Day, on February 14.
Chan announced the news to the media this week, revealing how he proposed to Ying with a diamond ring worth six figures.
'It was actually very funny. I brought the ring with me and was ready to propose, but before the words came out of my mouth - I don't know why - I started crying,' the actor recalls, laughing.
'Eventually, I managed to mumble through the words, 'Will you marry me?', and Cherrie just stood there and burst out laughing. It was a very strange proposal.'
The couple will wed at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. The ceremony will be attended by Chan's close friend, singer-actor Ekin Cheng Yee-kin, and his former Wind Fire Sea bandmate Michael Tse Tin-wah and his wife. Another bandmate, Jason Chu Wing-tong, plans to give Chan a golden microphone as a wedding gift.
Chan and Ying (above), who have been together for three years, will throw a 50-table wedding banquet in Hong Kong when they return from their two-week honeymoon.
