Singer Ronald Cheng Chung-kei says he can finally relax now that he is no longer going to be the chief executive of his father's record company.
Gold Typhoon hosted a press conference this week to announce a new partnership with investment firm Pacific Capital Asia. It was chaired by Gold Typhoon boss Norman Cheng Tung-hon (Ronald Cheng's father) and also attended by new business partner, Louis Pong Wai-yan, chairman of Pacific Capital Asia.
The media recently speculated that Ronald Cheng was going to take over the record label as chief executive. So during the press conference's question-and-answer session, Ronald Cheng asked whether he was to become the company's CEO.
Norman Cheng said: 'I don't think Ronald Cheng has CEO quality. I can say on his behalf that he is happy working on the front line making music and films and the word 'CEO' has never crossed his mind.'
The singer seemed satisfied with the answer and explained why he raised the question.
'I knew no one was going to ask that question but me... I have been hoping for that answer for 11 months, since I was given the title 'CEO' and I am very happy that the issue has been clarified,' the 37-year-old said.
