Caspar Fownes has given Hong Kong Derby hopeful, Super Satin, an easy time at trackwork since he notched up his fourth consecutive win at Sha Tin on January 16, but the trainer blew any cobwebs out of his galloper at the barrier trials yesterday.

Super Satin was given a good shake up by Douglas Whyte before finishing fourth behind higher-rated Regency Dragon, who completed the first heat over the 1,050m in a time of 62.45 seconds on a rain-affected slow track.

The classy four-year-old will derive plenty of benefit from the hit-out and expect to see him right up to the mark when he steps out next Tuesday in the Derby Trial (1,800m) at Sha Tin.

The Danehill Dancer gelding finished second to talented Algarve when resuming this season, but has since been undefeated with two wins over 1,650m at Happy Valley and two wins over 1,800m - one at the city course and the other at Sha Tin - coming in quick succession.

In-form jockey Zac Purton will be pleased with the way his two mounts galloped in their respective trials.

He was aboard Regency Dragon and Master Key, who hit the line full of running in the second heat over 1,050m behind talented Penglai Xianzi.
