Tomorrow, 10pm, Dharma Den
You'd think the indie-dance sound would have very broad appeal, combining the attitude and noise of indie rock with the dance floor-friendly beats of electronic music.
It has a big following overseas, thanks to the efforts of genre icons such as Steve Aoki and Diplo.
But the sound has been a bit slow to take off in Hong Kong, despite the brash young collective behind the Scream event doing its best to introduce it to local night owls.
Asim Hussain - aka Asim Fiction - has been running the event for the past year with cohorts James Def and P. Vibe. After building up some momentum it is now bringing the noise on a weekly basis to new venue Dharma Den, run by the same people behind the popular Baby Buddha and Buddha Lounge.
Hussain admits the sound remains almost unknown in Hong Kong. 'The main scene is in the US and Canada, which is where people like Steve Aoki, Tiga and Felix The Housecat come from,' he says. 'The scene is also centred in France thanks to record labels Ed Banger and Kitsune. Then there is Berlin, which is where Boys Noize, Siriusmu and Para One are based. But Hong Kong? No, it's not really that big here. Most people think it's some form of indie-rock night.'
