HONG Kong fans may still have the chance to see Italian giants AC Milan in action in the territory - even though the Hong Kong Football Association have declined an invitation to play them at the stadium as part of the FA's 80th anniversary celebrations.
The Hong Kong promoter organising an Asian tour for Milan, Brian Catton, said the FA had given permission for Milan to play at the Hong Kong Stadium in early June. Now he has to find suitable opponents - and was hopeful of assembling a strong Hong Kong League XI.
Catton has pencilled in Sunday, June 5, as the ideal date.
Meanwhile, South China's trip to the Philippines in mid-May will affect the strength of the Hong Kong League XI to meet English FA Cup finalists Chelsea on May 22.
The Caroliners will participate in a four-team tournament from May 19-23 against opponents from the Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.
