The District Court was told that Alex Lo Man-nam threatened to report the 28-year-old alleged victim to the police, falsely claiming that he was under 21 when they had sex.

Lo, 24, is standing trial after pleading not guilty to blackmailing the 29-year-old into buying him Fancl cosmetic products, an electric shaver and shoes, totalling HK$8,067.

The alleged victim whose identity was ordered not to be disclosed, testified yesterday that he met Lo through a gay website. A meeting was arranged in Tai Kok Tsui after they exchanged messages in the site's chat room. Phone numbers were also exchanged.

The two subsequently agreed to meet at Lo's home, where they had anal intercourse. The court heard that it was the first time the alleged victim had committed buggery.

The alleged victim told the court that when they then went out to eat, Lo gave him a ring and asked him to be his boyfriend. Afterwards, Lo suggested they go shopping for Fancl cosmetic products. The alleged victim said he offered to pay for the goods, totalling HK$1,200, as he wanted to return in kind for the ring.
