A dispute between two brothers running the two celebrated Fook Lam Moon restaurants is set to be fought out in court.
One brother, Chui Pui-kun, has filed two summonses in the High Court against his younger brother, Chui Wai-kwan, requiring him to surrender copies of all minutes of the restaurants' directors' meetings.
The summonses, lodged on Friday, follow a claim for damages lodged by Chui Pui-kun in November last year against Chui Wai-kwan for defamation.
Chui accused his younger brother of circulating libellous letters among the shareholders and directors of Fook Lam Moon. He sought an injunction to restrain the alleged defamation.
The brothers are respectively the fifth and seventh sons of the late Chui Fook-chuen, who in 1948 founded the catering business that later became the Fook Lam Moon.
They are the major shareholders and directors of the two current restaurants, one in Wan Chai and the other in Tsim Sha Tsui.
