Scandal-hit Canto-pop singer Kelvin Kwan Chor-yiu will return to the limelight as early as the end of next month, his manager says.
The news was confirmed by Universal Music senior vice-president Duncan Wong Kim-to this week. 'Kelvin is now recording songs for his new album and will be resuming work at the end of March or in early April.'
Kwan (right) and his girlfriend, Jill Vidal, were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Japan on February 24 last year. The Tokyo police found a marijuana joint on Kwan and 1.8 grams of heroin in Vidal's suitcase.
Kwan was later released without charge but Vidal, after spending two months in detention, was sentenced to two years in jail suspended for three years for heroin possession.
Vidal's contract was immediately terminated by her management and record label, Amusic.
Kwan's record label had planned to bring him back into the limelight at the end of last year after sending him to help with relief work in Sichuan province to rebuild his public image. Then, intimate pictures of the singer with a sexy Taiwanese pop star, Mika, were leaked onto the internet in October.
