I would like to add my view to Vanessa Leung's letter 'Adverts aren't necessarily truth' which ran on February 24.
Many slimming and cosmetic adverts are not real. The agencies find charming and attractive models and then other women think if they use the products they will look the same. Often these adverts make claims which cannot be backed up.
Models on television tell us their skin is so white because they use a certain product. But perhaps they were just born that way. Perhaps other adverts are edited with software before we see them.
Some people may even find these products are harmful, besides the fact they are not working. They may be sensitive to the ingredients used.
We really should be more careful before wasting money on empty promises.
